On the shared path alongside the A538 from the River Bollin 360m to the east.

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7752736.
This is a shared footpath/cyclepath and was probably 3m wide when built but is now so overgrown with vegetation it is now 1.2- 1.5 m at most. As a result many cyclists choose to stay on the road which is dangerous. This is even more concerning because a cyclist was knocked off his bike and subsequently died on the same road last September; this was on the Manchester side near Sunbank Lane where the shared path also narrows significantly and perhaps why he chose to cycle on the road. We obviously wouldn’t want to see the same happen because of the overgrowth on the shared path in Cheshire East.
The shared path is also part of the Greater Bollin Trail that was approved at the April meeting of the Highways and Transport Committee.
It is such a shame that CEC has gone to all the expense to put in a shared path to full specification for it not to be used as a result of vegetation overgrowth.
Would you be able to arrange an ad hoc safety inspection and also take account of the recent fatal collision on this road when calculating your risk assessment? Or just clear the vegetation! Thanks
