Manchester Road Congleton close to Ambulance Station

Reported via mobile in the Conditions of Signs category anonymously at 19:06, Sunday 16 March 2025

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7287589.

Solar Speed sign hasn’t been working for months, the sign also needs to be bigger and brighter as it seems to small for the road and cars don’t know the speed limit and it’s dangerous.

  • State changed to: In progress

Updated by Cheshire East Council at 09:33, Thursday 10 April 2025

  • The asset you have reported is not part of the adopted highway network so the Council is unfortunately not responsible for its maintenance. You can search for the roads we maintain on our website: https://maps.cheshireeast.gov.uk/ ce/ adoptedroadsgazetteer/ Home.aspx

A legal duty to maintain un-adopted roads still exists and this responsibility would fall to the owners of the road, which is typically defined as the owners of any properties fronting that highway or housing developer. It is advised that the residents of the properties meet to discuss the situation and consider how the matter can be collectively resolved.

We are unable to pass on details about landowners, but you can find out information about them through The Land Registry: https://www.gov.uk/ government/ organisations/ land-registry

State changed to: not the council's responsibility
