Junction of Colehill Bank and Canal Street. At the pinch point by Burn’s garage on Canal Street

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 16:58, Saturday 15 February 2025

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7139394.

Tarmac has been degraded and worn away by number of cars driving over the drain grid, exposing the edges of the ironwork and loosening the grid. It can be heard moving when driven over. Rain water is not draining through the grid, but collecting around it then running down Canal Street. The closure of Park Lane has dramatically increased the volume of traffic using Canal Street. The vast majority of drivers are not waiting at the pinch point to give way to cars approaching in the opposite direction, but squeezing their way through and even blocking the pinch point completely. Some cars are driving up onto the narrow pavement on the Burns Garage side of the road and the cars coming up Canal Street from the direction of the Town Hall are having to drive over the top of the grid and even onto the junction of Colehill Bank and the pavement.
