Congleton canal street/canal road, leek road, mossley in general

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 10:13, Thursday 13 February 2025

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7128254.

Dear CEC,

I am not one to do this usually but I am really starting to lose my patience with the council over the state of the roads and area mentioned above. Park lane has been closed for a number of weeks therefore all traffic is now coming through mossley along leek road and canal street. These roads were in poor condition already, now they are practically disintegrating. At least twice a day I have to put my vehicle through hell just to get to and from work. I work hard to pay for council tax, road tax and my vehicle and there is no way I and others should have to suffer the state of these roads. Canal street, canal road and leek road have been like this since I moved in over 2 years ago, with minor patch repairs that barely last a few weeks. It simply is not good enough. Have one of your councillors or repair contractors take a drive down that road and see just how bad it is literally all the way to and from the town centre. All are unavoidable due to the narrow width of the road. I am also interested to know why biddulph road, on the way to biddulph from mossley lights, was completely resurfaced recently yet those of us who use canal street from mossley (a road which is used just as frequently) maybe are seen as well-off enough to afford vehicle damage and repairs? It is a disgrace and these roads should have been fully resurfaced a long time ago. Sort it out CEC!
