Lay by opposite forge farm on A50
Reported via desktop in the Parking category anonymously at 10:56, Friday 17 January 2025
Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6993207.
I have been advised by Laura Woodrow-Hirst ASB and Community Enforcement Manager Neighbourhood Services to submit the following request for TRO to prevent carnival machinery being left in this lay-by for months on end.
I quote "They have confirmed that you can do this on fix my street via our website. If you if you click the online map on the location in question, then select the ‘carriageway’ option and progress, there are further options such as parking. If there is no specific option for requesting a TRO then would suggest you select the best category to fit and provide some context around what you are looking to try and request. I would also urge you to speak to your local ward member who might be able to make representations on your behalf as well and provide you with feedback."
As reported before this fair ground machinery that has been parked in this lay-by for 7 weeks unmoved is causing the community much distress. These vehicles are a nuisance. They ruin the view of the Cheshire country side and they are an unnecessary danger to road users. I have heard first hand from 2 lorry drivers who have complained that they have been obstructed from pulling over for their breaks because of the trailers.
A lay by is a place at the side of a road where a vehicle can stop for a short time without interrupting other traffic. They are designed for tired drivers to rest and/or to pull over in an emergency. Storing of these vehicles and machinery is preventing other road users from using the lay by and therefore poses a risk to life. I also believed they are in breach of Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005 "To tackle abandoned and nuisance vehicles."
I therefore am requesting a TRO parking sign to be erected at this lay-by I suggest a "no parking over night" sign or a restricted hours parking sign. I am happy to personally fund this in order to tackle this issue that is affecting me and many other community members.
