The gullies outside the three properties (Ivy Cottages) appear to be blocked. This has caused severe, ongoing problems during heavy rain. During the recent New Year torrential rain storm an extremely serious situation occurred.

Due to the gullies not working, the water builds up in front of the properties and has nowhere to drain. There are at least 3 gullies and a field drain that all combine and flow into a single 4 inch pipe which runs into the old road drainage system. These gullies are designed to drain water from the aforementioned properties, run-off from the fields adjacent to the properties, drainage from the land surrounding the 3 Cottages and also possible contaminated water from the field drain. To make things worse the gully directly in front of my property (3 Ivy Cottages) is significantly lower than the others. On this occasion such possibly contaminated water was actually flowing out onto the front of the properties – an extremely serious situation! It has been previously noted by the Highways Drainage Engineer for Cheshire East council who reported the 4 inch pipe was unable to take the flow during heavy rain conditions and required major remediation. To my knowledge, this work has not been undertaken and the recent storm has only significantly highlighted the issue. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
