Brereton Heath Lane

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 17:19, Friday 4 October 2024

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6552835.

I have lived on Brereton Heath Lane for 10 years. The speed limit on the lane is dangerous. Dog walkers, families, horses, cyclists, disabled people and walkers use this lane regularly. It is truly frightening when you are walking along the lane and a car speeds past at 60 miles an hour or more, especially if you are walking with a child in a push chair. It’s even more dangerous when you are on a part of the lane where cars approaching from opposite directions cannot pass each other safely. Huge horse boxes and tractors are are a recurring problem. Also, when cars are parked on the lane, sometimes illegally, near to the entrance to the Nature Reserve, there are children and dogs very close to the road with motorists speeding by. I live on the part of the lane with houses/bungalows on both sides. I don’t understand why our children and grandchildren are not as worthy of consideration as other children living on residential streets where there are speed limits of 30 miles per hour. At night time the speed limit encourages some people to go even faster than the current speed limit, seemingly using it as some kind of race track. As the nights draw in, the lane is even more dangerous to navigate. My fear is that one day a toddler or young child will run on to the road and be killed by a vehicle doing 60 miles per hour. Please do something before that happens.
