Rear alley of Meredith st / west st
Reported via desktop in the Hedge/Tree Maintenance category anonymously at 10:31, Wednesday 2 October 2024
Sent to Cheshire East Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 6541622.
The trees to the rear of Meredith Street / bordering West Street need some sort of maintenance. The whole area has become overgrown and untidy. There has been no tree maintenance in over 10yrs +, and the general area hasn't seen any tidying up in the past 12mths. The Trees are now at such a height, that they are causing lighting issues within the homes. Having to gave lights on during the daytime is not a cost effective was for residents to live. They also give the perfect cover for fly tippers to dump stuff in the alleyway.

The location you have reported is not part of the adopted highway network so the Council is unfortunately not responsible for its maintenance. You can search for the roads we maintain on our website: https://maps.cheshireeast.gov.uk/ ce/ adoptedroadsgazetteer/ Home.aspx
A legal duty to maintain un-adopted roads still exists and this responsibility would fall to the owners of the road, which is typically defined as the owners of any properties fronting that highway or housing developer. It is advised that the residents of the properties meet to discuss the situation and consider how the matter can be collectively resolved.
We are unable to pass on details about landowners, but you can find out information about them through The Land Registry: https://www.gov.uk/ government/ organisations/ land-registry
