All gullies on Cross St, Macclesfield

Reported via mobile in the Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 19:30, Wednesday 7 February 2024

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5545697.

In October 2023 I reported that all the drains are blocked on Cross St. The report was dismissed on the basis that the drains were scheduled to be unblocked in December 2023. It is now February 2024. Today I walked north up Cross St and counted 28 out of 29 drains were totally silted up. It is very obvious that no attempt at unblocking them had gained for years. What happened to the scheduled unblocking in December? Did the contractor say it was fine when it wasn't, or is Cheshire East Council now just ignoring its own maintenance schedules? The large catchment on this and surrounding roads creates very large amounts of water on the carriageway surface when it rains. I've witnessed children walking to primary school getting utterly soaked as vehicles splashed them due to this totally avoidable situation. By ignoring its own maintenance schedule the council is wilfully causing suffering to children. This is a disgrace and should be fixed immediately, the problem has existed for far too long now. There is no excuse any more. Get these grids unblocked please.
