Roundabout on Silk Road at the end of Bollington Road

Reported via mobile in the Carriageway category anonymously at 10:48, Mon 11 December 2023

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5305269.

The chevron signs have wooden posts, which is great. However there are some smaller posts for advertising which appear to be in metal and maybe set in concrete? This is dangerous. They are immovable should a vehicle hit them and therefore could cause grievous bodily harm to vehicle occupants and the vehicle. Please can you have these removed and ensure any signs be they for chevrons or other notices have wooden posts securing them.

Many thanks

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are experiencing a high volume of enquiries and we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • State changed to: In progress

Updated by Cheshire East Council at 15:18, Thu 14 December 2023

  • The asset you have reported is not part of the adopted highway network so the Council is unfortunately not responsible for its maintenance. You can search for the roads we maintain on our website: https://maps.cheshireeast.gov.uk/ ce/ adoptedroadsgazetteer/ Home.aspx

A legal duty to maintain un-adopted roads still exists and this responsibility would fall to the owners of the road, which is typically defined as the owners of any properties fronting that highway or housing developer. It is advised that the residents of the properties meet to discuss the situation and consider how the matter can be collectively resolved.

We are unable to pass on details about landowners, but you can find out information about them through The Land Registry: https://www.gov.uk/ government/ organisations/ land-registry

State changed to: not the council's responsibility
