Good evening,

I am writing to you with regard to the public footpath which runs from Broad Lane to Coniston and Grasmere Drive. Please will you erect a clear notice at each end stating that it is just that – a footpath and NOT a Bridleway?

Apart from the sometimes alarming and always crowded encounter with a 6+ foot-high animal, horses leave their “traces” behind them. This is unpleasant for any walker and positively obstructive for anyone with mobility issues, or for someone with a child in a buggy, as I observed was the case the other week.

We have tried speaking to the riders on the spot several times and, although it may have an effect in the short term, the practice soon resumes.

I rely on a positive response to this request.

Yours sincerely,

Angela Gilmore
