Smithy Cottage, Woore Road, Buerton.

Reported via mobile in the Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 17:31, Monday 22 May 2023

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4583983.

The existing road gullies on either side of the property, on our side of Woore Road, do not take away the highway drainage and it rises up and over the drive dropped kerb and discharges down the drive into a grating in the drive. Previous discussions with your representative on site confirmed that you did not take responsibility for the grating as it was on private land. The grating/gully does not appear to be connected to a drain and appears to act only as a soakaway. My concerns is that because the highway gullies are not dealing with the surface water, even in moderate rain fall, it is discharging onto our drive, with potential to result in flooding, should the soakaway not cope. In any event, it cannot be acceptable that highway water is allowed to discharge onto private domestic land in this way, and that its drainage system be reliant upon this solution. I have a video of the water running into the soakaway, but was unable to attach it. When you contact me, I will forward it to you. Kind regards, Michael Mould
