On Bradfield Road behind number 92 Becconsall Drive, Crewe

Reported via mobile in the Carriageway category anonymously at 16:59, Sun 14 May 2023

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4552964.

Regarding the condition of the grid on Bradfield Road behind 92 Becconsall Drive, every time a vehicle passes over the grid the properties adjacent to it on Becconsall Drive physically shake. When a vehicle passes over the grid, the grid moves, which makes it not only very noisy but potentially very dangerous. If you look at the attached photos, you will see there is nothing at all holding the grid in position, absolutely nothing. This is not a minor defect, it's actually potentially a very dangerous issue. Anybody wishing to cause a major accident could easily just lift the grid and remove it, leaving a huge hole in the road or, worse still, what would happen if a lorry flicked the grid out into the road at night leaving the grid in the middle of the road and a huge hole where the grid should be? Road users' safety is paramount and I'm sure the council would not wish for such a situation to occur. I understand that this issue may have been raised previously, but over the past few weeks the condition of the grid has seriously deteriorated to the condition now seen in the photographs. Please send somebody to have a look at the grid and it will then become obvious just how potentially dangerous this grid really is. Thank you. Andrew Parker
