London road north, towards the four houses (wayside, Cranford, Bentlea)

Reported via mobile in the Footway category anonymously at 14:52, Monday 6 March 2023

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4286860.

The footpath has been closed since Jan 29th following a lorry who came off the road. We currently can’t cross the road to walk down the other side due to the bend in the road and being unable to see round this. There are speeding cars down this road and it’s posing a serious risk to life having to cross the road. I have two young children under 5 and I can’t risk walking across the road when I’m unable to see round the bend. Please can someone let me know when this footpath is being fixed. I contacted the highways on the 29th January and so far nothing has been done to fix the issue. I’ve left a message for someone to call me back about this. I also contacted you to tell you that the street lamp directly outside our a house isn’t working. As I mentioned we live on a major road heading into and out of Poynton and visibility round this bend is currently really poor at night due to the light being out. Can someone call me about this. I tried getting through to someone today but have been on hold for ages and so have left a message for someone to call me back. Thanks

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are experiencing a high volume of enquiries and we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

As the problem you have reported is not causing an immediate safety issue we will now look at the best long- term approach for this location. We keep all roads and highway assets safe through our routine inspections. If anything is identified as a risk during a future inspection, we will take action to deal with it as appropriate.
