Children Crossing Signs (for playground entrance) Frank Webb Avenue
Reported via desktop in the Conditions of Signs category anonymously at 17:31, Wed 18 January 2023
Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4146197.
Issue raised on FMS as directed by Alan Ward @ CEC 18/01/23. The footpath entrances to Leighton Brook Park on Frank Webb Avenue (what3words location eggs.spray.train) and Rolls Avenue (what3words location error.zebra.count) really should be accompanied by "Slow children crossing" signs due to the speed that vehicles often travel in this area, particularly the straight section of Frank Webb Avenue past the park where there are many obviously speeding vehicles taking advantage to accelerate up the straight section of road. Children trying to cross between parked cars could easily misjudge a car at speed, or be hit stepping out because they can't be seen. A parking restriction of a few metres either side of the two footpath entrances previously mentioned would easily resolve this and "Slow children crossing" signs would make drivers more aware of their surroundings. I would like to take this opportunity to raise it, especially as with a new playground due to be installed funded by Crewe Town Council there will likely be even more children crossing the road in these locations to access the park.

Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.
Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.
We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.
Thank you for your patience.
