On the bend in the road faced by 6 Hurst Lane.

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 14:35, Wednesday 18 January 2023

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4143408.

The bend is very sharp and on a steep slope. On-street parking occurs regularly and especially at night on the section of road between no 6 and the sharp left turn over the canal bridge as vehicles go up towards Kerridge. The main problem is traffic coming down the hill into Bollington, particularly vans and lorries. There have been several accidents as vans/lorries swing wide to avoid cars etc coming up on the blind bend. The vehicles then catch the wall of no 6 causing physical damage sometimes serious. There needs to be it seems either 1. Protective bollard/s outside no 6 and/or 2. Parking restrictions along the canal side road between no 6 and the bridge. This must have been reported before. A bollard is said to be difficult because of a gas main near no 6 but the bollard could be affixed to a vertical concret post in the wall and extened outwards. Probably the simplest solution is to restrict parking near the blind bend.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.

During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.
