Astbury Street, top end between footpath entry onto Ivy Gardens and the junction with The Westlands.

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 16:25, Thursday 24 November 2022

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3990959.

Second attempt at reporting; no email confirmation to complete the report last time (and, no, there wasn’t one in my spam folder). At some time today there has been a significant spillage of diesel fuel on the roadway - approx 100 metres long and 2 metres wide by the time today’s heavy rain has spread it. Stretches along with its attendant smell from roughly the footpath entry into Ivy Gardens right up to the T-junction with The Westlands. People will be treading this mess from the roadway into their houses and the spillage itself is a potential skid-risk to any traffic (but especially motorcycles and bicycles) forced into doing any sort of emergency-stop in the street. Can you please attend to cleaning this up as a matter of urgency or at least advise me of what I might be able to do to attempt to sort it out with any domestic cleaning products that I have?

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.

During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.
