Drainage Gullies on eastern side of Crewe Rd from 82 Crewe Road (drain on the corner with Newall Avenue) up to and including the gully outside 92 Crewe Road

Reported via desktop in the Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 12:48, Friday 30 September 2022

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3859204.

Drainage gullies on east side of Crewe Rd between 82 - 92 are blocked with debris and leaves and have been for well over 12 months. In times of moderate / heavy rain they do not drain and leave extensive standing water on the road and pavement which makes it hazardous for children walking to the adjacent schools. If a large vehicle passes down the road it produces a tidal wave that covers the pavement and anyone on it. The gullies / drains have been fine for years until becoming blocked with debris / leaves last year.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.

During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • We deal with gullies based on the level of immediate risk. We have assessed this location and it is not considered to present an immediate danger to highway users at this time. We are due to empty the gullies here as part of our routine programme in the next 12 weeks. This means we will not visit before the scheduled visit unless there is an immediate threat to life or the inside of property. You can find out the scheduled visit date by visiting our website: https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/ highways_and_roads/ road-maintenance/ gullies-and-drains.aspx
