A50 between junction at the Bears Head and junction at Newcastle Road South

Reported via mobile in the Noise or Vibration category by David Jenkins at 13:40, Saturday 24 September 2022

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3845797.

Traffic volume and resulting noise pollution. Dear sirs,

Can you please help. We live along the side of the A50 in East Cheshire (CW11 1RJ). Recently the local authorities have built thousands of new homes which are all served by the A50 close to our post code.

This has resulted in the A50 quadrupling in the amount of traffic inclusive of all types and noisy motorcycles.

We urgently need insulation from the traffic noise generated by increase of vehicles not to mention the pollution hazards and our mental health. We can no longer enjoy our garden and this has impacted upon our properties value.

I’m sure my neibours are facing the same impact and effects to their properties by the increase in housing numbers adjacent to where we live.

Regards David & Marion Jenkins 34 Newcastle Road South Brereton Sandbach Crewe Cheshire CW11 1RJ

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.

During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.
