Please can I ask when Newton Heath is going to be considered for footpath improvements and road carriage way surface dressing programme of improvements, especially at the location of Darlington Street / Newton Heath to the point were it meets St Anns Road. I live on Newton Heath and in time I have lived we have never had any major highways improvements. You have currently closed St Ann Road from 25th July August 5th and now vehicles are cutting through of Nantwich Road - near to Leas Passage and up Darlington street this additional traffic is driving at speed and due to the poor quality of road surface we are having to endure additional noise as vehicle bump along this uneven carriage way. As a local resident please can we have some sort of confirmation that this area warrants road improvements. I know various resdents that have sent in reports online with regards this area and are continuosuly neglected and fall upon deaf ears. Can we have some postive proactive action please.

Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.
Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.
We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.
Thank you for your patience.

We have assessed the issue and added it to our improvement programme for repair over the longer term. This means we are unlikely to do any improvement work here during the current financial year. Our programmes sometimes change if more funding becomes available. You should check our website for any updates. You can find details of the work planned for this location and where it currently sits on the programme through our website: https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/ highways_and_roads/ road-maintenance/ road-repair-and-improvement-programme-2021-2022/ road-repair-and-improvement-programme-2021-2022.aspx
