The A534 from the M6 going towards The Hill traffic lights
Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 13:32, Sunday 12 June 2022
Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3589551.
Saturday and Sunday the 11/12 th June at midday on both days, the traffic is backed up to the M6. With no obvious issues at Waitrose end and no traffic. The lights are simply causing a back log of traffic. This in turn is creating more traffic to by pass the by pass, and go through congleton road. As a car was trying to exit the new estate (old mill rd) amongst all the backed up traffic they failed to see me approaching towards the M6 and nearly caused a bump.
Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.
Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.
We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.
During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.
Thank you for your patience.

We have assessed the issue and added it to our improvement programme for repair over the longer term. This means we are unlikely to do any improvement work here during the current financial year. Our programmes sometimes change if more funding becomes available. You should check our website for any updates. You can find details of the work planned for this location and where it currently sits on the programme through our website: https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/ highways_and_roads/ road-maintenance/ road-repair-and-improvement-programme-2021-2022/ road-repair-and-improvement-programme-2021-2022.aspx
