Road gully at the end of our drive.

Reported via desktop in the Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 12:52, Monday 2 May 2022

Sent to Cheshire East Council 4 days, 6 hours, 10 minutes later. Council ref: 3495939.

6 months ago I reported the flooding from this gully and to date no action has been taken whatsoever.

I think in total, this issue has been reported to yourselves 5 or 6 times now, which I find quite annoying.

Given that this is standing water, the smell is quite rancid and I am really concerned with this ongoing situation.

Personally, if this is not fixed soon, I will be hiring a pump and using this to pump to empty the contents of this gully onto the carriageway, as I really think that 6 months to action this is appalling and unacceptable.

I doubt that anyone reads or uses this portal at Cheshire East to resolve issues as nothing appears to be working.

Here's hoping for 7 times lucky (although I won't be holding my breath)

Kind regards,

A very disgruntled rates payer and Parish Councillor.

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.

During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • We deal with gullies based on the level of immediate risk. We have assessed this location and it is not considered to present an immediate danger to highway users at this time. We are due to empty the gullies here as part of our routine programme in the next 12 weeks. This means we will not visit before the scheduled visit unless there is an immediate threat to life or the inside of property. You can find out the scheduled visit date by visiting our website: highways_and_roads/ road-maintenance/ gullies-and-drains.aspx
