Junction of Beech Hall Drive and Manchester Road

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 11:55, Monday 7 February 2022

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3294915.

I realise that the council is not responsible for Beech Hall Drive but this is a safety issue which affects Manchester Road. Apple maps and TomTom show the Drive as a one way road which continues through Beech Hall School and rejoins Manchester Road opposite Beech Farm Drive. This is not correct as BHD finishes at the school gate and thereafter the way belongs to the school. Apple have refused to alter their mapping and this leads to traffic swinging into BHD from Manchester Road and assuming they will not meet exiting traffic. Can you assist in contacting Apple and TomTom to get this fixed before there are more accidents? I would be very grateful.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.

During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.

  • We deal with defects based on the level of immediate risk. We have assessed the issue and it does not present an immediate risk to highway users at this time. As the problem you have reported is not causing an immediate safety issue we will now look at the best long- term approach for this location. We keep all roads and highway assets safe through our routine inspections. If anything is identified as a risk during a future inspection, we will take action to deal with it as appropriate.

State changed to: No further action

  • Having been advised by your own staff to submit the report in the first place I confess to being bemused that having a local two-way road shown on satnavs as one-way is not a safety issue. I will save your response for the next Manchester Road rear-end shunt victim.

    State changed to: Open
