Drain in Rushy Lane at entrance to Town House Barns
Reported via desktop in the Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 12:50, Fri 14 January 2022
Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3240484.
I reported this drain before Christmas as it was overflowing and it was attended to but when it rained during New Year the drain again overflowed and left a puddle in the road. I inspected it yesterday and whilst the puddle has now drained the level of water in the actual drain has only seeped away slowly and is now about 4 inches from the top so will ultimately flood the road again when we have further rain. It would appear that the drain is again blocked between it and the main drainage sewer in the road due to the amount of mud being carried into it by farm and other vehicles.

We deal with defects based on the level of immediate risk. We have assessed the issue and it does not present an immediate risk to highway users at this time. As the problem you have reported is not causing an immediate safety issue we will now look at the best long- term approach for this location. We keep all roads and highway assets safe through our routine inspections. If anything is identified as a risk during a future inspection, we will take action to deal with it as appropriate.
