The footpath here is reduced to a muddy path of between 12 and 24 inches wide. It is a popular route and we are encouraging people to walk more yet they would not be able to walk more than in single file along here and the footpath is unpassable for mobility scooters, wheelchair users and people pushing prams. This path has been reported to me many times in the past two years and i have repeatedly reported to Cheshire East. Residents are now rightly very frustrated. Between Shakespeare Drive and the Welcome to Crewe sign the mud from the grass verge has seeped over the path covering a good 12", on the hedge side of the footpath here the undergrowth of vegetation extends well into the path limiting pedestrians to a few inches of footpath, with no provision for people coming from the opposite direction to pass. Alongside a wall between the Welcome to Crewe sign and the first houses of Stevenson Close are mushed up dead leaves taking over a good few inches of path, opposite to the wall the mud is again seeping onto the grass verge side of the path. Again narrowing the footpath. After this wall and before the turning for Stevenson Close the path meanders and narrows to less than 12" in width. I have many reports of this and this is a path that you must have inspected many times, can we please see an improvement in the width by having some siding work to restore the path to its original width. I did ask for this at a recent planning meeting for the housing development at The Crewe Green roundabout. Will that request come to fruition. Thank you.

We have assessed the issue and added it to our improvement programme for repair over the longer term. This means we are unlikely to do any improvement work here during the current financial year. Our programmes sometimes change if more funding becomes available. You should check our website for any updates.
