Disintegrated road surface

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway category anonymously at 08:37, Sun 21 November 2021

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3135192.

The junction of Cinder Lane has completely eroded resulting in a large ridge which you have to drop down on entereingbthe a Lane or ascend, without traction as there is no tarmac left. When turning right onto the Lane, and because there are multiple potholes across the road surface on the approach, it is impossible to make a right turn into the Lane at the speed following traffic is anticipating because of the need to slow to a virtual stop in order to drop off the ridge. Traffic is entering the Lane on the incorrect side of the road in order to try to avoid the worst of it so now the edges are becoming similarly affected.

  • The surface continues to disintegrate and the entrance/exit consists of a shelf. Impossible to enter without slowing almost to a stop in order to make the turn. Following traffic does not anticipate/expect this. Some vehicles take the turn on the wrong side of the road to avoid the worst of the drop.

  • This section of road remains in appalling condition and it is clear from the lack of markings that it will do so for some time. It was re-reported but still no action. Traffic is now chewing up the grass verge trying to avoid the ridges.
